With Raw Food, Mental Health Is A Benefit

While there is still an epidemic of obesity in the US, a surprising number of people are taking back their lives by paying attention to what goes into their mouths. One such movement is eating raw food. When it comes to this dietary theory, there is much to be gained from eating raw, mental health being one of the most touted benefits.

Advocates also claim that they experience more energy and less incidences of disease, including cancers, anxiety and depression, though you should always first seek advice from your doctor or a qualified medical practitioner.

The theory behind raw food is fairly simple. Enzymes and vitamins are present naturally in the cells of plants. When you cook these good foods, some of that power to cleanse and feed the body is eliminated. By eating raw food mental health is increased. A person can also overcome food intolerance and allergies, creating a better foundation for long term health.

Like any vegan diet, eating raw foods automatically leads to a higher intake of fruits and vegetables. This fact may lead to many of the increased health benefits that proponents claim. While the facts and studies aren't clear as of yet, what is known is that eating raw sure can't hurt.

Many people go into an eating plan thinking it has to be all or nothing. The good thing about eating raw food is that you can incorporate the principles into your eating plan without completely revamping your lifestyle. Try going on a detox diet and eating completely raw for a week or two. You can find recipes and suggestions by searching the net.

After that process you can begin to incorporate dishes into your normal menu that can help you take advantage of the benefits of eating raw food, mental health being one of them. While it may be much too emotional to consider giving up your favorite cooked dishes, you can easily reduce meat portions, increase your fruit and vegetable intake and add a completely raw meal once or twice a week.

While the jury is still out on the science surrounding raw food, that doesn't mean that you can't test it out yourself. You will likely see an improvement to your hair and skin, plus have much more energy. Your mind may also feel sharper. Either way, raw food will ensure that you are getting plenty of fruits and vegetable and scientists already know that to be a boon to health and longevity.
