Ideas For Cold Picnic Food Recipes

Picnics are great, and can have a real party atmosphere, but sometimes it is hard to come up with just the right thing to bring. Hot foods are hard to keep hot, so it is best to bring something that is meant to be served cold. You also need to be careful to keep food safe and fresh, so cold foods might also need to be brought in coolers, especially if they have certain ingredients such as mayonnaise.

With a little thought it is possible to come up with a number of different ideas for cold picnic food recipes. And if you are not that great in the kitchen, you can always pick something up from a restaurant on your way there.

When it comes to cold picnic food recipes, one of the things that comes to mind is a salad. This could be a fruit salad, green salad, potato salad, three bean salad, pasta salad or rice salad. These are popular options for those who want something other than just sandwiches made with cold cuts to start off their meal.

It is nice to have a buffet of options when you have a picnic, so you should also consider things such as canapes, appetizers and other finger foods when you are choosing from among the available cold picnic food recipes. People usually like things such as pickled beets, deviled eggs, chips with salsa or dip, chicken wings, and fresh fruit.

Of course you also don't want to forget dessert, so it is a good idea for someone to bring some sort of cake, pie or other treat that doesn't require refrigeration.

Some of the best picnic places allow you to BBQ as well so you can have some hot foods like hamburgers and hot dogs, and maybe even corn on the cob. Having the option of cooking some hot food on site really gives you a lot more options.

Of course the weather still has to cooperate in order to make the day a total success, but if you choose your picnic location wisely there might even be some shelters so you don't have to cancel all your plans or run to the cars if it should start to rain.
