Finding The Perfect Salad Recipe For Any Occasion


Most good cooks have a repertoire of favorite salad recipes that they go to whenever they need to make a salad, either for their family or for a special event. The fruits and vegetables in salads are very healthy for you although the added dressings can make some types of salad a bit fattening.

There are so many different types of salads to choose from as well, you can have a different type each day of the week if you would like. Salads can be used as an appetizer or side dish, as a main dish, or even as a dessert.

When most people think of salads, the first thing that comes to mind is a mixed green salad. You don't even need a salad recipe to make this type of salad, you just need to get some type of greens, like lettuce or spinach and add the different salad vegetables that you like, as well as any additional add-ins like croutons, dressing, bacon bits, egg, or cheese.

To make it suitable for a main dish, you can add grilled chicken, tuna, shrimp or any other type of meat. You can even give your salad an international flair by making something like Doritos taco salad recipe, a Caesar salad, or an oriental salad. You can find an Olive Garden salad dressing recipe to get that Italian flavor as well.

There are also a number of different salad recipes for various salads with a mayonnaise dressing. These include egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, potato salad and macaroni salad. These options are a bit less healthy since they tend to rely less on fresh vegetables and usually have a lot of fat. However, they can be very delicious and are common cold food picnic recipes. The tuna salad, chicken salad, and egg salad are also commonly used as fillings for sandwiches.

Many people like to also have a good fruit salad recipe. The healthiest of these consists mainly of mixed cut-up fresh fruit. However, you can also make these into appetizer or dessert salads by making a Jello fruit salad using fresh, frozen or canned fruit along with Jello, or an ambrosia fruit salad with whipped cream and mini marshmallows along with canned fruit.
